About DSDS
DSDS was established by Dan Stevens in 2007. Dan Studied Architecture at the University of Newcastle completing both his Bachelor of Science/Architecture and his Bachelor of Architecture (now regarded as a Masters Degree). Prior to this Dan worked as a builder and sculptor, with studies in both these areas culminating in a greater passion for architecture.

Design Aesthetic
With an emphasis on environment sustainability, DSDS has developed a design aesthetic based on structural detail, local materials and a response to site and place. The use of Australian hardwoods feature prominently with light filled spaces, crisp details and sleek contemporary lines
Structural detail

Structural design detail, simple, practical!
Polished slab becomes the detail

The concrete slab becomes the detail, a variety of aggregates were used in the concrete mix. The smart slab was then cut and polished.
Recycled hardwood door

Superb craftsmanship and recycled Australian hardwood produce a sumptuous tactile entry!
Client Budget
The budget is the budget and this needs to be established at the outset. Having a background in building and construction as well as architecture DSDS insists on ongoing budgetary checks at each critical stage of the project. This is a in-house quality assurance check to deliver projects to client expectations. This is not to say that a project must suffer architecturally for a tight budget, in fact a tight budget often becomes the design catalyst inspiring creative architectural solutions, details and material selection.
